brain stimulating activities for kids

Simple Activities to Stimulate Your Child’s Brain Development

Toddlers are sensitive learners. They recognize the world by touching, smelling, and interacting with it in different ways. The amount of information they absorb in the first 200 days of their lives is far more than the information they will gather the rest of their lives. In these first few days, brain cells grow at an exponential rate, setting the foundation for overall development of a child as everything in the body is governed by the mind.

Earlier, it used to be a mother’s duty to imbibe the cognitive thinking in the toddlers, but nowadays, many child daycare facilities are there to partner up with parents in developing the brain of your child in most optimal ways. These daycare centers take care of the kids the whole day especially to help the working parents who can’t afford to be with the kids all the time. Let us discuss the brain development-boosting activities for your child.

1. Get your child measuring: In this activity, you can arrange real objects such as fruits, kitchenware and bottles in front of your child and help them understand things. You can line apples up and make your child count the quantity of the objects. This exercise will make your child think and will surely get grey cells boosted.

2. Label the Things in Your HouseIn this technique, you must label few things such as a refrigerator, doors, table or  a lamp. Let your child recognize these objects. Do not write the complete names on the labels. Just write the initial letters of them as a hint. Now after few days, jumble the objects up and now observe if your child still recognizes the things correctly. In due course, your child will start getting familiar with the things helping them develop cognitive ability.

3. Teaching How to OrganizeThis is an especially important activity. It lets your child learn coordination and help them learn how to organize things in a proper order. Here, you have multiple jars in which we put specific things in a particular order. After a gap of few days put these things in front of your children and let them organize in the same order by guessing. This should boost their overall organizing capability and boost memorizing ability.

4. Scavenger Hunt: Toddlers are highly intelligent by nature. Take them shopping and ask them to get tomatoes which are red in color. If they cannot get it, then you get three different vegetables, tomatoes being one of them. Ask them which one is tomato and also red in color. Such activities help the kids develop their power of distinguishing and identifying things. It also boosts their confidence when they get it right.

5. Recognize the local town: Go out with your toddler. Discuss the places with them and then draw the same places on the cards. Next time you go out, then ask your toddler to choose relevant matching cards after seeing a place. Kids find such activities more interesting and fun than learning off the books. Needless to say, they grasp things faster this way.

Conclusion

Children’s brain development activities are critical during early childhood days to lay a strong foundation for their holistic growth. Parents are encouraged to come up with creative ways to help their kids develop multiple faculties of their brain using such innovative methods.
